What a booked vacation package costs, tier by tier

Seventeen trips, four notice tiers, and one plain answer to what a booked vacation package costs before you commit to anything.

Every figure on this site starts at $1,890 per person and stops at $4,450 per person.

The request form takes bookings 24/7 and keeps no closing time. A person opens what arrives before the working day ends.

Seventeen trips sit on our shelf right now, and the spread runs $1,890 to $4,450 per person, double occupancy. That is the whole range. Nothing above it, nothing below it, no separate list held back for people who ask a certain way.

What a booked vacation package costs here depends on one thing more than season or destination: how far ahead you are standing. Birchway Point is a booking office in Greensboro, NC. We take your request, price it against the operating company's current terms, and arrange the reservation with them directly. This office charges you nothing, at any stage. No planning fee, no research retainer, no service charge folded into the total. The operating company pays us a commission after you travel, and that commission is already inside the figure you are quoted, not added to it.

Most people assume early always means cheaper. That is half true, and the half that is wrong costs real money.

Air fare behaves one way. Land arrangements behave the other. Air inventory opens roughly eleven months out and the bottom fare buckets are usually gone by four months, so on the two-winters and most-of-a-year tiers the flight portion rewards patience about as much as a parking meter does. Land arrangements behave in reverse. A small operator holding twelve rooms in a season that has not sold yet will discount to fill; the same operator four weeks out with two rooms left has no reason to. So a short-notice departure can land under a most-of-a-year departure on the land side and blow past it on the air side, and which effect wins is arithmetic we do before we quote you, not after.

The two-winters tier is its own case. Those are trips where a permit ballot, a single sailing, or a hard cap on group size means the book opens once a year and shuts. Price on those is set by the operator when the book opens and does not move afterward in either direction. Eighteen months of patience buys you a seat, not a discount.

Where the number on your quote comes from

Land arrangements
Rooms, ground transport, guiding, entrance fees, and the meals named in the itinerary. Usually sixty to seventy-five percent of the figure.
Air
Round trip from a gateway you and I agree on, priced the day we quote and not held at that price until ticketed.
Operator margin
The operating company's own overhead and profit, built into their tariff before we ever see it.
Our commission
Paid to this office by the operator after you travel. Already inside the figure. Not a line you pay.
Taxes and carrier charges
Government levies and carrier surcharges on air and lodging, quoted separately in writing so you can see them.

Five things a quote from this office never contains

A fee to us
Not for planning, not for research, not for rebooking. There is no charge from this office in any column, on any tier.
Insurance of any kind
We do not sell it, quote it, or advise on it. If you want coverage, buy it from a licensed seller with no involvement from us.
Documents or entry paperwork
Passports and entry permissions are yours to obtain. We do not handle them and do not price them.
A card charge from us
We hold no card number and run no checkout. Payment goes to the operating company on their schedule, under their terms.
A struck figure or a percentage off
We publish one number per person per departure. There is no second number beside it with a line through it.

Reading the tier against your calendar

Short-notice, a few weeks out, means you are shopping what is still open, and open inventory at that range is uneven. Sometimes it is a real bargain in land cost. Sometimes it is a single room at the price the operator needs, with air that has already climbed. We will tell you which one you are looking at.

One-season, three to five months out, is the ordinary window and the least dramatic. Both sides of the arithmetic are near their middle. If you have no reason to prefer another tier, this is the one that behaves.

Most-of-a-year, eight to twelve months, is where one or two components sell out well before the rest. The lodge with nine rooms goes first; the flights are still fine. That gap is the whole reason the tier exists as a separate shelf.

Two-winters, eighteen months or more, is a capacity question, not a price question. Deposits are larger and the terms are stricter, and everything about how a departure comes apart is written out at the cost of pulling out before you put money anywhere.

A quote is a written figure and a costed answer follows in two to four working days to assemble, because we ask the operator rather than guess. A message about pricing is opened the same working day. If you would rather talk it through, you can speak to a travel agent at this office at (336) 680-4173. Requests through the form below are accepted 24/7 and go into the same queue.

Ask for a figure on a specific departure

Sending this reserves nothing and holds no number. Requests reach this form 24/7. It has no closing time to keep.

A person opens this, looked at before the working day ends. Pricing it against your own dates is slower and runs to two to four working days, because a second company answers on a clock this desk does not control. Card details are wanted at no point, here or later.
